just a glimpse of you...

The tears on my cheeks,
each representing days
moments and lifetimes
that never were

The soul-quake happening

shook up from my stance
of strong stoicism
a forced smile to cover pain
uncovered

The soul-quake happening
when I caught just a glimpse of you

I never knew pain
to be so refreshing
to embrace it and know that I am
because of it, in spite of it.

The soul quake happening

Like charging horses they come,
memories and sensories
sweet tastes of a life with you
then with without you

The soul-quake happening
after just a glimpse of you

I stand my ground
teeth bared, feet planted
braced for an impact that never comes
but never leaves.

The soul-quake happening
after just a glimpse of you

But still I stand.
